Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor - Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program

About the role

The incumbent will conduct psychosocial assessments, provide crisis intervention, clinical case management, and evidence-based psychotherapy (e.g. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Problem Solving Therapy (PST), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), etc.). The incumbent will also work with Veterans and the BHIP team to establish treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments, evaluate psychosocial functioning and needs, and develop treatment plans.
• Provide triage assessment, crisis intervention, and counseling/psychotherapy for Veterans using evidence-based practice.
• Provide clinical case management services to Veterans, coordinating care and ensuring they receive necessary services.
• Set clinical care goals in collaboration with the patient, monitor progress, and work towards achieving outcomes, including reducing hospitalizations.
• Attend team meetings and collaborate with patients' providers and other team members to coordinate care.
• Establish collaborative relationships with mental health providers and other team members to improve care coordination.
• Maintain knowledge of community and VA resources and make appropriate referrals to programs.
• Advocate for Veterans to ensure timely and appropriate services and benefits.
• Provide education and consultation to staff, students, patients, and families regarding programs.
• Stay current on VA policies and procedures relevant to program areas and contribute to meeting goals and performance measures.

Requirements

• Full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
• Telework is available (ad hoc).
• Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
• Must be able to pass a background/security investigation.
• Must be willing to participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) license is required.
• Master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field from a CACREP-accredited program.
• One year of post-master's or post-doctoral degree mental health counseling experience.
• Knowledge of current DSM and ability to apply appropriate clinical interventions.
• Ability to engage in intake and assessment, problem identification, diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
