Job Summary

Be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our KeyBank communities. The Private Client Banker (PCB) is part of the Key Private Client Program and will focus on the entire client relationship with a plan-based approach to financial advice.

Essential Functions

  • Embody a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact we can have on their day, personally, professionally, and financially.
  • Listens for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provides effective and customized financial wellness recommendations to clients.
  • Delivers on client solutions through referring of investment and insurance products.
  • Consistently attains individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations.
  • Buils a client referral pipeline via identification and development of internal and external centers of influence; employs a disciplined approach to prospecting; documents calling efforts.
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of private client products and services, as well as knowledge of competitive products and services to ensure meaningful in-depth financial wellness conversations with clients.
  • Opening personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
  • Develops strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners through in-person meetings– focusing on client acquisition and deepening the relationship of current clients; effectively manages internal and external centers of influence.
  • Safeguards compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
  • Supports branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
  • Participates in and occasionally facilitates in-person morning huddles and end of day debriefs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.

Education and Work Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience (required) or Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals and building referral sources in insurance and investment products (required).
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting and networking (required).
  • Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact-finding questions with the goal of being helpful (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, as this role will require significant influence of partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage and Business Banking sales professionals (required).
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.) (required).
  • Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key (required).

  • Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations leading to recommendations that support clients’ financial wellness goals, leveraging system generated lead lists, walk-ins, and professional contacts.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Provides clients with expert advice on managing their finances, including investment strategies, retirement planning, and tax optimization.
  • Evaluates the overall health of a client's financial situation, including their ability to manage day-to-day finances, save for the future, and protect against financial risks.
  • Helps clients achieve financial wellness through effective financial planning and advice.
  • Actively identifies and develops new client relationships through prospecting and networking.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with high-net-worth clients, providing personalized service to meet their financial needs.
  • Stays updated with market trends and analyzes market conditions to provide informed financial advice.

Physical Demands

  • Consumer Retail - Prolonged Standing (5-8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, ability to communicate face to face and on the phone with clients, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1 – 10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Driving Requirements

  • Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.

Compensation And Benefits

This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $25.00 - $38.46 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives. This is an evergreen posting.
