Licensed Practical Nurse (Telehealth Care Technician)

Duties

• Utilize Veteran care data to initiate active contributions to the Veteran's health plan.
• Follow program regulations and perform objectives of the nursing program.
• Promote and demonstrate nursing concepts in the Medical Center.
• Work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and/or the Health Care Provider.
• Work independently and communicate effectively with the Veteran, families, caregivers, professionals and other supportive staff.
• Support and manage the Telehealth clinical program.
• Serve as a site imager for telehealth store and forward applications.
• Facilitate real time Clinical Video Telehealth encounters.
• Assist with patient education activities.
• Assist with Patient Aligned Care Teams in primary care, specialty care and remote visits.
• Perform a variety of patient care duties for asynchronous, synchronous and clinical visits.
• Assist with providing equipment for Home Telehealth programs.
• Provide technical and scheduling support, and other program support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least one (1) year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-6 level or equivalent, fully meeting all of the performance requirements for the GS-6 LPN/LVN.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to carry out more specialized patient care duties, including assignments in selected, more complex inpatient and/or outpatient care settings.
• Ability to assist RN and/or MD/DO to appropriately prioritize overall patient care needs and adjust plans for care delivery.
• Knowledge and skill to promptly recognize potential urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO for appropriate team intervention and effectively intervene, as directed, to assure the continuation of optimal, safe and therapeutic patient care delivery.
• Exhibits skill, creativity and initiative in contributing to the improvement of overall patient care.

• Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

• Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship, English Language Proficiency, Education, Licensure.
• Grade Determination: Knowledge and skills necessary to carry out more specialized patient care duties, including assignments in selected, more complex inpatient and/or outpatient care settings.
