About the role

This position delivers nursing care and treatment to inmates and staff who have physical or mental health needs. The role supports daily functioning, medical assessments, treatments, and emergency response within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Nursing Care: Provide vital sign checks, medication administration, treatments, restorative techniques, and health education
• Medical Support: Assist physicians during examinations, clinics, treatments, testing, and screenings
• Emergency Response: Deliver first aid, CPR, AED use, assessments, and referrals during medical emergencies
• Record Management: Document patient information, maintain electronic health records, and prepare reports for transfers or release
• Supply Oversight: Sterilize instruments, maintain inventory, and ensure adequate stock in treatment areas
• Professional Development: Participate in required training and stay informed on policy and procedure updates

Qualifications

• Necessary Special Requirements: Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania
• Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
• Eligibility: Within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing

Pay

The starting annual salary is $68,914.00 (before taxes).

Schedule

Full-time employment. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
