Responsibilities
Perform nursing tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with treatments, and supporting activities of daily living
Prepare and administer prescribed medications and record all related actions accurately
Provide first aid, CPR, or AED support during medical emergencies as appropriate
Maintain accurate electronic health records and prepare reports needed for care continuity
Communicate important information to nursing, custody, and administrative staff to support safe operations
Manage supply levels for treatment areas
Requirements
Necessary Special Requirements: Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
Basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
You must be able to perform essential job functions
Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements must be met
Qualifications
This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania
All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license
If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting
Benefits
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Pay
The starting annual salary is $68,914.00 (before taxes).
Schedule
Full-time employment, 40 hour work week. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm; 2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm; and 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am.
