About the role
Supervised by a Registered Nurse or Physician, the LPN guides our patients through a seamless process to ensure that their care is of the highest quality and delivered in the most efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Directs patients through the appointment process
- Provides nursing services during care
- Phones triage patients
- Collaborates in care planning discussions
- Determines urgency of care needs
- Triage emergent care situations to the appropriate provider
- Schedules acute care appointments to maximize patient care opportunities and unit efficiency
- Maintains the flow of the Provider schedule during patient care sessions, minimizing patient wait time whenever possible
- Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required
Requirements
- Fulfills the requirements to be a Licensed Practical Nurse in NY State
- Minimum six months of LPN experience preferred
- Outpatient primary care and/or pediatric (if applicable) experience preferred
Qualifications
- New York State licensed practical nurse
- Current American Heart Association CPR and AED certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
Skills
- Knowledge of age-specific medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
- Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions
- Understanding of documentation standards
- Knowledge of equipment, supplies and materials needed for medical treatment
- Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening
- Knowledge of infection prevention, infectious disease management and control and safety standards
