Licensed Practical Nurse - Pediatric Float Pool

About the role

Supports the licensed healthcare team members in the provision of patient care, including direct patient care, providing healthcare information to patients/families, and following established plans of care. All patient care activities are undertaken with the delegation and supervision of a licensed professional in accordance with VUMC standards and licensure regulations.

This position will float to the following locations: DOT, OHO, ECL in Franklin, a Brentwood Primary Care office on the main campus, and possible travel to other locations to be determined.

Schedule

Monday - Friday (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
No holidays, weekends, or on-call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare providers in delivering healthcare services.
• Partners with the healthcare team by following established plans of care to ensure patient progress and effective outcomes.
• Supports plans to promote health and a safe, healthy environment.
• Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data accurately and timely.
• Participates in the development of the plan of care in consultation with the licensed healthcare team.
• Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, and meet deadlines.
• Handles multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritizing work into manageable units.
• Adapts to changes in patient care and area needs with minimal disruption and loss of productivity.
• Follows up to ensure problems and issues are resolved.
• Performs nursing interventions such as wound care, point-of-care testing, and vital signs.

Technical Capabilities

• Clinical Patient Documentation (Novice): Possesses fundamental proficiency to demonstrate patient documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others.
• LPN Patient Education (Novice): Possesses fundamental proficiency to demonstrate patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others.
• LPN Care Planning (Novice): Participates in the development of the plan of care in consultation with the licensed healthcare team.
• Clinical Competency (Novice): Possesses fundamental proficiency to demonstrate nursing interventions in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others.

Requirements

• Certification: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Tennessee
• Work Experience: 1 year of relevant experience
• Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program
