Licensed Practical Nurse-Outpatient-Pediatrics

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs general nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards.
• Affords assistance in the preparation of equipment and assists the physician/clinical provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
• Collects assessment data, prepares patients for examination, and documents clinical information on the patient record.
• Orders diagnostic tests as directed by a registered nurse or physician/clinical provider and reviews diagnostic test results prior to the physician/clinical provider's assessment.
• Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations as necessary.
• Might administer injections or medications, collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, and prepare them for testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Current state licensure as an LPN or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• One year healthcare experience preferred.
• State-approved IV course certification.
• Knowledge of OASIS documentation and assessment process.
• PALS or ACLS may be required based on the specific area of practice.
