About the role
The LPN/CMA job class assists practitioners and Registered Nurses in providing health care to incarcerated individuals. Responsibilities include rooming patients for practitioner examinations, conducting blood pressure clinics, and administering medication.
Responsibilities
- Perform functions related to "rooming" the incarcerated individual for practitioner examinations, including obtaining vital signs and documenting complaints.
- Conduct phlebotomy functions with incarcerated individuals, including collecting blood and urine samples and performing other tests ordered by the practitioner.
- Administer medication as prescribed by the practitioner.
- Conduct Blood Pressure Clinic and other chronic care clinics with incarcerated individuals.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse Graduation from an approved school of nursing plus current licensure in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse without limitations or restrictions.
- Completion of an approved training program in medical assisting plus certification or registration as a medical assistant by passing a national examination.
- Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.

Skills
- Hands-on clinical experience providing direct patient care in a hospital, long-term care and/or clinic setting.
- Clinical experience in a correctional or secured setting.
- Experience working in a correctional or secured setting.
- Experience in a specialized clinical area(s), such as in gender-specific, geriatric, juvenile health care, medical/surgery unit, and/or behavioral health.

Pay
Salary Range: $28.01 - $35.83 / hourly; $58,484 - $74,813 / annually
