Essential Functions

  • Affords assistance with admission and check-in processes, including orienting patients and completing necessary forms.
  • Assists with preparing and administering medications within the scope of practice, and supports patient activities of daily living, preparing them for medical or surgical interventions.
  • Collects and tracks specimens for laboratory analysis, and documents patient care, interventions, and updates care plans accurately and promptly.
  • Communicates with supervising RNs, physicians, or licensed independent practitioners regarding patient care and changes in condition, and participates in patient education about health status, maintenance, and management of conditions.
  • Fulfills legal and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, accurate documentation, and engages in quality improvement projects and initiatives, acting as a mentor or trainer to other staff if required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
  • Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification if applicable to unit.
  • IV certification as required by facility, either current or obtained within three months of hire.
  • Enrolled and completed RN within four years for roles not including long-term care or behavioral health settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting.
  • One (1) year specialty clinic experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Requires ongoing need for employee to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
  • Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • May be expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
