About the role

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to coordinate and implement health screenings, special health care procedures, and provide training and oversight in a supportive environment for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement a plan for health screenings.
  • Coordinate, design, and implement special health care procedures.
  • Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection control procedures, administering medication, CPR, and other in-service as needed.
  • Administer medication and other health care procedures according to physician orders.
  • Participate in staffing and IEP conferences to provide information on the student’s physical and health needs when requested.
  • Oversee all Special Health Care Programs (SHCP) and ensure they are completed correctly with all necessary supplies available.
  • Notify parents if additional supplies are needed.
  • Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
  • Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an orderly, attractive, safe, and clean environment.
  • Maintain CPR training instructor certification and basic CPR certification.
  • Maintain confidentiality of parent, student, and staff personally identifiable information.

Requirements

Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri. Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities preferred.

Qualifications

A professional license pursuant to state law is required.

Skills

Knowledge of pediatric care and disability management, strong organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively, and proficiency in CPR and first aid.

$38,208 per year, with potential for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials.
