Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Urgent Care

Full-time, benefits-eligible position for 36 hours per week.

Schedule

• 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM, 3 days a week
• Rotating every other weekend
• Rotating holidays

Pay

$24.10 - $36.15 per hour

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or arrange for the provision of appropriate care for patients, as pertinent to the scope of nursing practice and specialty of the office setting.
• Appropriately and accurately document all patient care/interactions in the patient medical record.
• Participate in telephone triage by obtaining clinically appropriate data and symptoms from the patient and advise/instruct patients according to established protocols and/or orders from the provider.
• Ensure that all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, and that the provider is presented with all test results.
• Engage in pre-visit planning with provider and care team.
• Administer medications, including injections.
• Check vital signs, height, and weight.
• Assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication lists.
• May assist with satisfaction of pertinent health maintenance requirements.
• Assist providers during procedures and examinations and perform instrument and room clean-up.
• Utilize standard precautions and comply with policies, OSHA standards, CLIA regulations, and TJC/DFS/other regulatory agency standards.
• Report patient's condition and reaction to the provider following procedures, medication administration, or treatments.
• Assist with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization as needed.
• Participate in electronic documentation of care at the direction of the provider.
• May enter orders in EMR (CPOE) per provider order.
• Complete CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing, including Point of Care testing for Hemoglobin A1C and other tests as applicable; adhere to CLIA standards.
• Perform Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care in-office lab procedures.
• Perform venipuncture and assist with collection of specimens of body fluids such as urine and blood for laboratory testing; complete lab requisitions and prepare specimens for pick-up.
• Provide patient with Depart Summary and review at the end of the visit.
• Responsible for all vaccine and pharmaceutical orders, including applicable state Immunization Registry (NCIR) and SC DHEC regulations, and monitor inventory levels of clinical supplies specific to the practice setting.

Requirements

• Consistent walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
• Must speak, read, and write Basic English fluently.
• Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch; manual finger dexterity.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license to practice in the applicable state (dependent on the practice's physical location).
• Graduate of an Accredited School of practical nursing.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.
• BLS certification required per policy guidelines.
