Responsibilities
- Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing standards
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients
- Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies the Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents; may notify supervisor as needed
- Performs nursing assessments to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patients
- Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Documents interventions, patient behaviors and physical assessments for assigned patients
- Initiates a patient/family-education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient/family, as prescribed by Physician
- Interviews patients to determine medical problem/condition and documents in chart for physician
- Obtains and records patient’s vital signs and weight
- Reviews physician’s orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patient
- Documents services performed for billing purposes
- Dresses wounds and gives enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and massages
- Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge
- Affirms specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or inter-muscular injection, and notes time and amount on patients’ charts
- Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers
- Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples
- Records food and fluid intake and output
- Maintains supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies
- Responds to patient inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient’s problems and questions
- Follows up with patients on lab results, including the scheduling of any additional tests
- Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices
Qualifications
- Active, in good-standing, Licensed Practical Nurse License in the State of Colorado
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification

Pay
Compensation range is $31.75-$43.75/hr depending on experience.
