Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- MAT Part-Time
Job Summary
The Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – MAT / Dispensing Nurse plays a critical role in delivering high-quality care to individuals receiving treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Working within HRDI’s Mental Health Division, the LPN is responsible for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services, including methadone dispensing, direct patient care, clinical assessments, and ensuring strict adherence to federal and state regulatory standards. This position requires strong knowledge of addiction medicine protocols, precision in medication administration, regulatory compliance, and a compassionate, recovery-oriented approach. The LPN must operate within established SOPs and maintain full compliance with SAMHSA/CSAT, DEA, and accreditation standards.
Job Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments during admission and discharge.
- Administer and dispense methadone and other MAT medications in accordance with physician orders and regulatory requirements.
- Verify patient identity, dosing accuracy, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Document patient care, medication administration, and clinical observations in the EHR.
- Support patients through substance use treatment and recovery plans.
- Educate patients on medication compliance and withdrawal symptom awareness.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, counselors, social workers, and nursing staff.
- Track patient progress and note behavioral/clinical changes.
- Maintain accurate medication inventory and comply with safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current State of Illinois LPN License with active CEUs.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in substance abuse treatment, MAT programs, or dispensing roles.
- Direct experience with methadone administration and controlled substance management preferred.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Strong clinical documentation and charting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR platforms.
- Solid knowledge of common drugs, withdrawal symptoms, and related effects.

- Deliver excellent customer service to all patients and staff daily while employed at HRDI.
- Dispense methadone accurately in accordance with physician orders, SOP, SAMHSA/CSAT, DEA regulations, and accreditation standards daily.
- Complete all required Relias trainings annually by May, ahead of the June 30 deadline.
