Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process while delivering care to patients admitted to the nursing unit under the direction of the RN, Nurse Manager, or Charge Nurse
- Provide direct patient care to medically complex and/or critically ill patients requiring extended hospitalization
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals (Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Case Managers, Dietitians, Speech Language Pathologists, and more) to assist in carrying out individualized care plans
- Gather and report data, carry out orders, and perform therapeutic procedures on patients in an age and population-appropriate manner
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) in the state where the hospital resides, or compact licensure if state participates
- Current BLS certification required (AHA approved within 90 days of employment)
- Current IV Certification within 90 days of employment, if required per state regulations
Qualifications
One year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience preferred but not required.
