Schedule

  • Part time, 16 hours per week
  • Evening shift: 2pm–10:30pm
  • Every other weekend; additional $1.25/hour weekend incentive
  • Additional $1.25/hour shift incentive for any hours worked 6pm–6am

Pay

Salary range: $29.00 – $36.00 per hour

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. You will demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles, competency within the full scope of LPN practice, and age- and population-specific standards related to residents’ physical and psychosocial needs as outlined in their care plans.

You will perform testing to evaluate resident status, respond effectively in emergent situations, ensure health, comfort, and safety, and contribute to resident assessments. You will administer medications or treatments as ordered, provide technical support to healthcare professionals, and document resident interactions, outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.

You will counsel residents, family members, or advocates on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician, and develop self-care programs using resident education principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care for long-term-care residents under supervision
  • Apply nursing principles and age-/population-specific standards in resident care plans
  • Perform testing to evaluate resident status and respond to emergent situations
  • Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents
  • Contribute to resident assessments and administer medications or treatments as ordered
  • Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed
  • Document resident interactions, outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public
  • Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Counsel residents, family members, or advocates on prevention and treatment plans
  • Develop self-care programs using resident education principles
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
  • If IV therapy/management is required: graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Pre-licensure nursing program must have included supervised clinical experience across the life span, or a minimum of 400 hours of LPN experience at another facility
  • Currently hold an unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
  • Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
  • Complete annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements
