About the role
Located in the heart of World Golf Village, Westminster St. Augustine, a Life Care Retirement Community, is currently accepting applications for the position of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) part-time, 3pm - 11pm in our Health Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents as well as supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and staff nurses in accordance with state and federal standards.
- Support the Nursing Team as part of the Westminster Family.
- Comply with all applicable rules, policies, standards, and guidelines related to employment with Westminster Services and its communities.
- Supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) as the Charge Nurse; ensure that CNAs are following physician orders.
- Implement resident care based on physician orders.
- Evaluate care and communicate with doctors for updates of orders (PRN).
- Complete admission documentation in Electronic Care System (ECS).
- Assist with the evaluation of residents for medical needs/changes.
- Aid in planning resident care based on physician orders.
- Enter physician orders into ECS.
- Ensure that residents are receiving their medication based on doctor’s orders/complete medication pass.
- Maintain the medication cart including audit procedures for PRN medication and controlled medicines as defined by the nursing standards.
- Perform skin evaluations and skin treatments as required by skin treatment protocols.
- Monitor blood glucose, temperature, and blood pressure.
- Assist patients/residents with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, transferring, ambulating, toileting, and other resident needs.
Qualifications
- Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Must be CPR certified.
- One year of long-term care experience is desirable.
- Med-surg, Home Health experience helpful.
- Experience working with the handicapped or developmentally disabled adults preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Fingering, lifting up to 40 lbs., standing, grasping, pushing, stooping, kneeling, reaching.
- Sensory and communicative activities with or without prosthetics: feeling, smelling, hearing, speaking, seeing, tasting.
- Exposure to: inside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens, physical hazards using equipment, respiratory hazards.
- Able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
