Job Summary
The licensed practice nurse (LPN) is responsible for rendering nursing care in assigned areas according to individualized client needs, following recognized nursing techniques and established standards.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Utilizes nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing care.
- Performs delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Affirms medication administration accuracy, monitoring patient responses, as documented in the medical record.
- Maintains and coordinates communication among resident family members, staff, and physicians, as evidenced in the medical record and client feedback.
- Provides punctual change of shift reports containing pertinent and relevant patient information.
- Collaborates with other healthcare team members in coordinating patient care.
- Uses available written and technology systems specific to patient conditions or diseases.
- Utilizes appropriate teaching methods such as one-on-one, group instruction, demonstration, or discussion.
- Assists residents, family members, or other clients with concerns and empathy, respecting confidentiality and privacy, and communicating courteously and respectfully.
- Answers and refers telephone calls or inquiries to facilitate accurate and timely communications.
- Maintains regular attendance and proactively completes daily assignments as assigned.
- Works collaboratively to create a positive atmosphere for residents in alignment with core values.
- Fulfills job requirements through adherence to instructions and proactive engagement.
- Possesses understanding and compassion for the elderly population.
