Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Job Summary
Administers care that is individualized and consistent with the plan of care and with standards of care/practice (Reports to RN any change in patient condition, administers medications, functions independently, within area of practice).
Demonstrates Clinical Skills
Demonstrates clinical skills for work area (completes unit specific skills/competencies).
Knowledge of Growth and Development
Demonstrates knowledge of normal growth and development in the delivery of care.
Teaching and Support
Incorporates patient/family/significant other teaching into routine care under the direction of the RN.
Adjusting Routine
Adjusts work routine to meet changing unit and patient conditions.
Team Building
Fosters team building spirit (assist new staff members integration into the team).
Plan of Care
Contributes to plan of care, as well as implementation of plan.
Safety
Maintains a safe working environment.
Public Relations
Fosters a positive public relations with patients, families and staff.
Work Activities
- Medication administration
- Obtaining vital signs
- Drawing blood
- Obtaining EKG's
- Hands on nursing care
- Some heavy lifting required
CPR Certification
Current CPR certification.
Experience
- Current 1 year post licensure nursing experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Mets NYS Civil Service appointment requirements for the title of T&R Center Licensed Practical Nurse.
- LPN licensure and registration as outlined by NYS Education Department.
