Requirements

• Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Responsibilities

• Enhance the clinical care and quality of life of our residents while ensuring all resident rights are protected
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician
• Check all residents daily to ensure prescribed treatment is properly administered by nursing personnel/assistants and evaluate their physical and emotional status
• Keep the RN Supervisor informed about the status of residents, staff, and related matters
• Implement recommended changes as directed by the RN Supervisor or the Director of Nurses
• Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feeding, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, taking blood, sputum, and urine specimens, etc., as established by the facility’s policies and procedures
• Complete all required record-keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, discharge, transfer, etc., and file in the resident’s chart or forward to the appropriate department
• Give and receive nursing reports upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours
• Investigate complaints and grievances and make necessary oral/written reports to the RN Supervisor or Director of Nurses
• Present a professional image to residents and families through dress, behavior, and speech
