About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the nursing activities of nursing assistants. This involves adhering to federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as following the directives of the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents
- Supervise nursing assistants in accordance with established protocols
- Delegated administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for assigned duties
- Provide data to the Quality Assurance & Assessment Committee as requested
Requirements
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/LVN in this state
- One year of specific requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to make independent decisions and communicate effectively with various stakeholders
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, as well as relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
- Willingness to seek out and incorporate new methods into existing nursing practices
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program
- Desirable to participate in continuing education classes, workshops, and seminars affiliated with outside nursing organizations
