LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)

About the role

EIHC is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse dedicated to serving the needs of our community. The position offers a competitive salary range of $21.84 to $35.88 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care and leadership, working collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
• Provides individualized education to patients and families appropriate for age, diagnosis, and level of understanding with the direction of RN or Provider.
• Affords assistance to providers during patient office visits, including rooming patients, interviewing patients, recording vital signs, and entering information into the patient's electronic medical record.
• Maintains exam rooms organized, clean, and stocked with required supplies and equipment for each visit.
• Performs select clinical tests including, but not limited to; blood glucose, rapid HIV testing, influenza, and strep cultures. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Correctly labels specimens.
• Observes, records, and reports changes in patients' condition.
• Administers medications and vaccines according to orders from a provider, following the six (6) rights of medication administration; including maintenance of intravenous lines.
• Assists providers with procedures by providing pre and post-procedural care, participating in the Time Out, and intra-procedural support.
• Follows standard precautions with all patients for proper infection control; correctly follows medical and surgical aseptic technique when indicated.
• Screens patient calls and makes follow-up calls as requested by the provider. Directs calls requiring assessment to an RN or provider.

Requirements

• Current LPN license in the State of Iowa & in good standing required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification (BLS) required.
• Previous experience in a medical clinic preferred.
• EMR experience preferred.

Qualifications

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• Limited Saturday Rotation
