Licensed Practical Nurse LPN
Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises nursing assistants to ensure high-quality care in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Key responsibilities include planning and overseeing daily nursing activities, administering medications, completing required documentation, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee daily nursing activities.
- Administer and prepare medications as ordered by the physician.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis.
- Receive and give the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
- Assist in all aspects of a resident’s daily life, including activities of daily living, meal service, and social engagement.
- Adequately communicate with clinical leadership when a resident's needs change.
- Approach and care for residents with dementia.
- Take on other duties and assignments within the scope of your knowledge and experience.
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current unencumbered state license.
- Knowledgeable of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
- Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
- Willing to take additional training or education, which specific states may require.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable while handling multiple priorities.
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
- Competent in organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Physical Demands
- Sit, stand, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
- Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Cope with the mental & emotional stress of the position.
- May include health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.
