Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Employment: Full-Time
Pay: $29–$32/hour
Schedule: 3–11 shift, every other weekend

About the role

Assisted-living and memory-care community seeking immediate hires. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) carries out the instructions of the Director of Wellness, supervises and monitors nursing staff, and performs routine nursing duties to ensure the highest quality of resident care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise HHAs, CNAs, and facility staff.
• Make daily rounds of all Assisted Living residents and retirement residents as needed.
• Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients to the Director of Wellness (DOW), delegating RN, or physician.
• Administer medications and treatments per signed doctor’s orders accurately and safely; observe effectiveness and report to physician when needed.
• Inform DOW when supplies and equipment are needed; order medication from the pharmacy as required.
• Supervise Home Health Aides to ensure proper, safe, and high-quality nursing care.
• Administer emergency first aid.
• Ensure daily assignments for patient care and incidental duties—performed by nurses and HHAs—are carried out as outlined by the Director of Wellness (e.g., vital signs, weights, nurse’s notes, medication records, kardex).
• Recognize, interpret, and report resident conditions to the DOW, RN, or Executive Director as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the nurse’s station, medication room, and cart.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff.
• Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary.
• Check equipment for cleanliness and condition.
• Provide guidance for nursing assistants.
• Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and personnel.
• Perform related work as assigned; duties cover both assisted-living and independent residents throughout the facility.

Refusal to perform any task directed by leadership may result in disciplinary action.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice in the state.
• Work experience in the geriatric field.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to interact courteously with visitors, staff, and residents.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 60 lbs.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure at times.
• Must maintain good grooming, personal hygiene, punctuality, and regular attendance.
• Warm, friendly, congenial personality with a professional appearance and empathetic attitude toward seniors.
• Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when needed.
• CPR certified (or obtained within 90 days of hire and renewed yearly thereafter).
• May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
• May be video recorded by devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
