Client Feedback / Candidate Preferences Previous correctional facility experience is preferred. Previous Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) experience is preferred. For Certified Medication Aide (CMA) positions, candidates should be certified to administer insulin. Job Description Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for performing technical direct and indirect nursing care in a correctional facility medical clinic for individuals under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist. This includes taking temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, along with performing various other technical nursing tasks in providing healthcare to patients and others. Typical Functions Performs nursing procedures or specialized functions in accordance with knowledge, skills, and licensure. Participates in the evaluation of responses to interventions. Assists in assessing, reporting, and recording health status of patients in a variety of settings. Participates in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of a plan of care. Administers medications as ordered. Reports appropriate patient information to a supervisor or appropriate healthcare team member. Level Descriptors Level I This is the basic level of the job family, where employees perform routine entry-level tasks under close professional supervision and in a training status to build their skills in providing nursing care as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Level II This is the career level of the job family, where employees are responsible for performing a full range of nursing assignments as an LPN and completing nursing tasks at the full-performance level. Responsibilities include providing guidance and training to others in completing routine nursing tasks and activities. Requirements All healthcare staff must complete the required online training before reporting to the facility. The training time is non-billable. The training consists of 16 modules, and registration information will be provided to awarded suppliers. Documentation of completed training must be provided to the facility Nurse Manager before the temporary healthcare personnel begin their assignment. Education And Experience Level I Must possess a valid, permanent Oklahoma Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or an LPN license recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Level II Must possess a valid, permanent Oklahoma LPN license approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, along with at least one year of practical nursing experience; or An LPN license recognized by the eNLC, along with at least one year of practical nursing experience. Special Requirements Some positions may require willingness and ability to fulfill job-related travel normally associated with the position. Candidates must be willing and able to work any assigned shift or day of the week.
