Licensed Practical Nurse I - III

You must be a new employee to the State of Delaware to be eligible for recruitment incentives. Incentives are paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire and require a two-year employment commitment with DHSS. The program may be terminated by the State at any time.
About the Role
The incumbent provides nursing services including direct nursing care, follow-up assessments, implementing nursing care plans, and coordination of health care services for residents. The role involves clinically supervising and evaluating care provided by certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and assisting CNAs in care and treatments. Regular contact with residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, dietary, pharmacy, administration, and other ancillary departments is required.
Responsibilities
- Administers treatments as directed
- Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration)
- Pours, administers, charts, and records medications
- Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations
- Observes patient behavior and condition, reporting changes to appropriate staff
- Records information on patients' charts
Requirements

Licensed Practical Nurse I
- Possession of a Delaware Practical Nurse license, Delaware temporary license, or multi-state compact license
Licensed Practical Nurse II
- Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license
- At least six months of experience as a Practical Nurse
Licensed Practical Nurse III
- Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license
- At least eighteen months of experience as a Practical Nurse
Conditions of Hire
- Attendance at Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on the first day of employment
- Satisfactory criminal background check (estimated cost: $85.00, covered by the applicant)
- Pre-employment drug testing
- Completion of a 2-Step TB/PPD test on the first day at the facility
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (E-Verify participation; DHSS does not provide employment-based sponsorship)
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is organized under an exclusive bargaining representative.
