Licensed Practical Nurse | Charge
Join our team at Chester Nursing Center, part of the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA), as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This is a full-time, regular employee position.
About the Role
Under general supervision, you will provide professional nursing care to patients of all ages using the nursing process, promoting health maintenance and education. You will ensure compliance with nursing practice standards, notify the Director of any unit issues, and take charge of the unit as needed with appropriate competency. You are responsible for reporting to work during scheduled shifts, even in inclement weather.
You will use established principles of delegation and supervision to direct licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff in delivering patient care during your assigned shift. Independent judgment is required to ensure optimal patient care and appropriate use of resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients through the nursing process.
- Promote, maintain, and teach health practices to patients.
- Ensure compliance with overall nursing practice standards of the specialty area.
- Report any unit problems to the Department Director.
- Take charge of the unit as needed, with appropriate competency.
- Ensure attendance during scheduled shifts, including in inclement weather.
- Direct activities of licensed and non-licensed care givers and support staff.
- Use independent judgment to optimize patient care and resource utilization.
Requirements
- Graduate from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program.
- Licensed as an LPN with the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with the American Heart Association (AHA).
