Licensed Practical Nurse

About the role

The LPN – Emergency Department (ED) Clerk functions in a dual role, providing both clerical support and direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice under the supervision of an RN or provider.

Responsibilities

• Supports efficient ED operations and patient throughput by performing unit clerk responsibilities (managing the tracking board, processing orders, coordinating communication, and maintaining accurate documentation in the EMR)
• Delivers basic clinical care, including obtaining vital signs, performing focused assessments, administering medications as permitted, collecting specimens, assisting with procedures, and reporting changes in patient condition

Requirements

• Holds a current Louisiana LPN license
• BLS certification (ACLS/PALS preferred)
• Demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced emergency care environment
• Able to flex between clerical and clinical responsibilities based on departmental needs

Qualifications

• Current LPN license in Louisiana
• BLS certification (ACLS/PALS preferred)
