Licensed Practical Nurse

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Ohio County Correctional Center is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process. They work under the clinical guidance of Registered Nurses and assist in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.

Responsibilities

• Directs and guides patient teaching activities
• Assists in the assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients in the health care unit and housing units
• Plans and implements individual treatment programs
• Administers medications and interventions in accordance with provider instructions
• Documents nursing encounters, patient responses, and complications
• Communicates information to supervisory personnel and physicians
• Maintains working and living areas and supplies in good order
• Serves as a member of a nursing care and treatment team
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted State Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) License
• CPR Certification
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience; correctional experience preferred

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted

Skills

• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of correctional healthcare systems
