Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Responsibilities

• Assists with patient flow.
• Makes sure patient arrivals are monitored, escorted to exam rooms, and patient wait times are managed.
• Prepares patients for exams and advises physicians when they are ready.
• Ensures exam rooms are clean and ready for the next patient.
• Washes, sterilizes, and sets up instruments and equipment, stocks rooms, checks materials and medications for expiration, and discards medical waste properly.
• Records medical information within the patients' electronic medical record as appropriate.
• Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents.
• May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or escalate needs appropriately.
• Answers phones, responds to inquiries, and trisegs calls to appropriate personnel.
• Assists with administrative tasks such as prior authorizations, form completion, referrals, maintaining logs and educational materials, sending/receiving messages, mail, and faxes, labs, x-ray reports, and hospital notes.
• Provides in-office patient care services including obtaining patient histories, vital signs, venipuncture, specimen collection, administering vaccines/medications, and educating patients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Approximately 2 or more years of related clinical experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Articulate and possesses a professional demeanor.

Licenses and Certifications

• NYS Registered LPN License and current LPN registration.
• BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
• Infection Control Certificate.

Education

• High School Diploma.
