Licensed Practical Nurse
About the role
The Long-Term Care (LTC) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves as a member of the nursing team in any Community Living Center (CLC) house. The nurse provides specialized care to residents with multiple disease processes.
Responsibilities
- Vigilant in recognizing changes in residents' conditions and assessing the need for intervention, which may be of emergent nature requiring immediate attention.
- Perform specialized practical nursing activities appropriate to grade level, including but not limited to: bladder catheterizations/irrigations, enteral tube feedings, oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care, ostomy care, bowel and bladder programs, and post-mortem care.
- Responsible for restorative nursing care, dementia care using a specific care model, and hospice/palliative care.
Requirements
- Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship, English Language Proficiency, Full LPN/LVN licensure.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent, or completion of at least 1 year of qualifying experience at the GS-4 level or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
- One year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
Skills
- Administer and document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed medications.
- Recognize and respond to emergency measures and institute appropriate interventions.
- Prepare and educate patients and family members about medication, treatment, and disease processes.
- Recognize and respond to breakage/malfunction or loss of equipment, safety hazards, and supply deficiencies.

Pay
Pay and benefits are competitive. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of 03 to 06.
