Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Duties

• Works under the general supervision of the medical providers.
• Responsible for nursing practices, policies, and procedures within the LPN scope of practice.
• Supervises Health Assistants and Medical Assistants as needed.
• Provides clinical nursing services to patients within the LPN scope of practice.
• Assists providers in healthcare activities, performs diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures, and administers medications as necessary.
• Ensures an appropriate environment for the administration of healthcare services by keeping exam rooms, nurse’s station, equipment, and other work areas clean, safe, and orderly.
• In the absence of a laboratory technician, performs routine lab procedures.
• Aids the Registered Nurse(s) with phone and walk-in triage.
• Communicates with patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Gathers information and determines the disposition of the patient, under the direction of the provider or RN.
• Utilizes the nursing process to solve problems as they arise in the clinic.
• Seeks out the advice of a licensed provider or RN as needed.
• Directs the activities of Health Assistants and Medical Assistants and provides day-to-day supervision.
