About the role
The Emergency Department at Northwest Hospital currently sees over 60,000 patients per year and has 49 beds. The department treats major and minor illnesses, typically related to cardiac, stroke, and behavioral health. Additionally, staff may provide care for orthopedic injuries or minor trauma. Our rapid care area is designated for minor illnesses.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development of and implementation of individualized nursing care plans to ensure that the needs of the residents are met.
- Assists in the orientation of new nursing personnel.
- Assumes responsibilities of a leadership role as needed during the daily operations of the unit.
Requirements
- Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college).
- Requires knowledge of a specialized field.
- Less than 1 year of experience.
- License for Practical Nursing.
Qualifications
- Outgoing and positive personality.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Skills
- Ability to assess patient status.
- Effective implementation of clinical nursing interventions.
