Licensed Practical Nurse

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and attentive Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide 1:1 care for a 32-year-old female with complex medical and behavioral needs.

Client Summary

• 32-year-old female
• Diagnoses include: Moderate Intellectual Disability (ID), Intractable Mixed Seizure Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Verbal with limited vocabulary
• Ambulatory
• Typically sleeps through the night without concerns
• Sleep should not be interrupted, as disruption may trigger seizures
• Seizures are unpredictable and most commonly occur overnight or early morning
• Requires within arm’s reach supervision at all times for safety
• Seizure protocol in place from University of Pennsylvania Neurology

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 nursing supervision and care
• Take vital signs prior to medication administration
• Administer medications at 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM
• Monitor for seizure activity and follow established seizure protocol
• Evaluate client status after seizure activity
• Administer rescue medication per seizure protocol when required
• Complete seizure logs and incident reports
• Maintain daily nursing documentation
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including: Meal preparation, Feeding assistance, Toileting, Personal care
• Ensure the client’s safety and well-being at all times

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in [State]
• Experience with seizure disorders preferred
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Caregiver-centered approach to care

• Training will be provided on the client's specific seizure protocol
• Nurse must maintain close supervision and situational awareness at all times
