About the role
Under the supervision of and in collaboration with appropriate medical staff (e.g., physician or registered nurse), you will assist with the medical treatment of clients by ensuring the components of the nursing process are effectively applied. Designated as the Responsible Health Authority, you will:
- Designate appropriate client referrals to contracted physicians and other medical agencies or practitioners.
- Administer physician-prescribed medications and vaccines.
- Control and maintain adequate inventory of medications and medical supplies.
- Respond to all medical emergencies, provide first aid, and periodically work "on-call" shifts for emergency assistance.
- Maintain all medical documentation, medical history, and files for each client while abiding by HIPAA compliance rules and regulations.
- Actively participate in nursing-related performance improvement activities.
- Participate in health training of clients, including hygiene, nutrition, and diet.
- Attend multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Coordinate with community service agencies to ensure routine and emergency medical care for clients and staff.
- Promote good health habits, hygiene, and nutrition with all clients.
- Continuously evaluate the quality of medical care for clients.
- Ensure the medical services department complies with all licensing and regulatory statutes.
- Communicate all pertinent client-related medical information to program/facility staff per HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Maintain compliance with the company exposure plan, including OSHA and bloodborne pathogens.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license to practice in the appropriate state.
- Trainer certification eligible or current certification in CPR/First Aid.
- At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific state & child clearances, and FBI if necessary).
- Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
- Valid driver's license from your state of residence.
- PA valid registered vehicle insurance.
- Ability to work with computers and necessary software typically used by the department.
