Location: Nashville, TN – Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute, Davidson County

Salary: $3,229.00 – $4,852.00 monthly / $38,748.00 – $58,224.00 annually. Current approved hiring rate: $4,290.00 monthly / $51,480.00 yearly.

Full-time, on-site position requiring a criminal background check and a valid motor vehicle operator license. May require meeting State of Tennessee driver standards.

Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as a practical nurse with the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Experience equivalent to two years of licensed practical nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the application of nursing techniques required in care and treatment of patients; advises subordinate staff in policies and procedures.
  • Performs BLS (Basic Life Support), CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and other emergency responses.
  • Follows prescribed health care plans or protocols; takes patient vital signs and administers medication.
  • Educates patients and caregivers on maintaining optimal health status, self-care (e.g., dressing changes, hygiene, adaptive equipment), and use of medical devices.
  • Documents assessments, care, education provided, orders followed, medical interventions, test results, and drug administration/effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with staff to develop and discuss patients’ comprehensive health plans and needs.
  • Provides education to employees and others.
  • Maintains secure, current inventory of health care supplies and reports discrepancies.
  • Ensures medical equipment and work areas are clean and serviceable; reports maintenance issues or repairs.
  • Communicates with internal and external entities.
