Licensed Optician - General Manager

About the role

The General Manager at America’s Best is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the store, from financial performance and team leadership to merchandising, training, and patient care. This position requires a proven track record of leading, coaching, and building strong associate relationships.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of daily store operations, including staffing, inventory management, bookkeeping, planning, and enforcement of company policies.
• Leadership, training, and development of associates through consistent coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities.
• Monitoring store performance and guiding associates to deliver outstanding customer and patient experiences.
• Partnering with the Doctor to ensure every patient receives the highest level of care.
• Conducting store audits and upholding quality, merchandising, and service standards.
• Maintaining open communication with the District Manager and providing accurate reporting.
• Ensuring the store and facility meet all corporate and safety standards.
• Executing marketing, merchandising, and promotional initiatives according to brand standards.
• Managing budgets, supplies, and inventory to meet financial goals.
• Recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent, creating schedules based on business needs and store traffic.
• Leading by example, coaching your team toward sales and service excellence.
• Providing clear, timely feedback and performance evaluations, while addressing issues proactively.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and maintaining accurate associate files and records.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of retail experience, with supervising experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the optical industry is preferred.
• ABO & NCLE Certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and build strong associate relationships.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Solid understanding of store operations and business performance.
