Licensed Optician

Job Duties

• Affords members to choose eyeglass frames and lens options fitting their prescription.
• Utilizes pupilometer to measure member's pupillary distance and observes line of sight for bifocal placement.
• Keys member's order into the computer system and places special orders via telephone.
• Rings up orders and handles cash transactions, processing payments, checks, and credit/debit cards.
• Verifies contact lenses and completed eyeglasses against the prescription before dispensing to members.
• Fits and adjusts eyeglasses to members using hand tools and frame warmer, bending with fingers.
• Orders equipment, merchandise, and supplies by entering data into the computer system.
• Keys receipt of special orders from outside vendors and follows safety and security procedures.
• Stocks merchandise and supplies following department procedures and standards.
• Cleans the department by spraying, wiping, and mopping, empties trash, operates trash compactor and cardboard baler.
• Supervises apprentices as required for certification qualification and ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Operates vehicles, equipment, or machinery as needed.
• Assists with department duties as necessary and assists in other departments of the warehouse as needed.

Qualifications

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment, or machinery.

Skills

Computer literacy, customer service skills, attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and basic knowledge of optics and eyewear.
