Licensed Optical Manager - Westside Provisions
About the role
Warby Parker is seeking a highly skilled Optical Manager to join our expanding in-house Optical team. This role involves creating exceptional customer experiences and managing a team of Opticians.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to address all their eyewear needs
- Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, ensuring accuracy
- Ensure finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements
- Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers
- Manage a team of Opticians, providing feedback, conducting development conversations, and setting a positive example
- Implement retail experience programs to enhance customer loyalty and engagement
- Report to the Store Leader and collaborate on staffing needs and the Optician Apprentice Program
- Stay updated on HR policies and procedures to maintain a productive, safe work environment
- Support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations
Requirements
- A licensed dispensing optician in states requiring a license, or an ABO-certified optician in non-licensing states
- At least 2 years of experience in a management position
- A strong leader and mentor who models behavior, drives optical metrics, and adheres to strict optical standards
- Able to operate with professionalism and open-mindedness when making decisions on behalf of the team
- Passionate about the eyewear and retail industries
- A clear and effective communicator who can simplify technical terms for customers
- Dedicated to exceeding expectations for both customers and teammates
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks and responsibilities
- Someone who takes their work seriously but not themselves
- Not on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Optometry, Ophthalmology, or a related field
- Experience in a managerial or supervisory role
- Knowledge of optical equipment and technology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Pay
In compliance with local and state requirements, Warby Parker offers a comprehensive compensation package that includes a competitive base salary/hourly rate and variable compensation for eligible employees. Final compensation is determined based on various factors including qualifications, experience, internal equity, and relevant market data.
Schedule
Warby Parker offers flexible schedules to accommodate the needs of its employees. Full-time employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 26 hours worked, receive 5 paid holidays, and 5-10 vacation days per year (after a waiting period, depending on tenure and hours worked). Part-time employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
