Licensed Mental Health Therapist with experience in Addiction Medicine or Substance Use Counseling for CMH

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based, multiculturally and trauma-informed psychological interventions to USC students, including individual treatment, group therapy, routine and urgent intake, triage, case consultation, third party consultation, and after-hours coverage
• Document clinical activities in a timely manner, in accordance with health system and departmental policies and procedures
• Present didactic training in seminars for social work, marriage & family therapy, and psychology practicum interns on theories, interventions, or diagnoses
• Conduct chemical dependency evaluations
• Provide specialized therapy and outreach services related to Substance Use Disorders
• Provide psycho-educational workshops to USC faculty, staff, and students
• May supervise interns and practicum students
• Serve on CMH, Student Health, Department of Psychiatry, KSOM, or other committees, as assigned
• Attend meetings, including administrative meetings, Faculty and Senior Staff meetings, Faculty and Senior Staff Case Consultation meetings, supervision/training meetings, and others, as assigned
• Participate in yearly merit review, performance evaluation, and quality improvement activities
• Attend Grand Rounds, Department Matters, and other departmental events and meetings, as assigned
• Other duties, as assigned

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Counseling, or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
• Licensed in the state of California
• Demonstrated experience in Addiction Medicine or Substance Use Counseling
• Experience in short term treatment, including brief psychotherapy, stabilization and referral of serious mental illness, and crisis intervention
• Multicultural competency in working with students of color, students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQ students, and international students
• Self-aware and can thrive in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Experience in college counseling centers, with transitional age youth, and/or with graduate students
• Strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of DSM5
• Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) issued by the California Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, or Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC) certification
• Experience working with issues encountered in early and emerging adulthood, including identity issues (e.g., sexual identity, gender identity, racial/ethnic identity, etc.), sexual trauma, and eating disorders
• Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills in group process work and training
• Experience and commitment to working with minoritized individuals
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and to professional integrity
• Desire to continue to grow as a professional and committed to excellence and lifelong learning

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $96,000-$130,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Schedule

This is an exempt faculty position in the Division of Student Mental Health in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. The position is full-time.
