About the role
Our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program is a fast-paced crisis intervention program that provides a full range of observation and outpatient psychiatric services for all ages. We are a State designated Community Health Center.
Responsibilities
- Crisis intervention and triage patients to the appropriate setting: waiting areas – voluntary or involuntary, children/family or emergency department evaluations.
- Care for and provide treatment modalities to outpatient and extended observation clients.
- Provide intensive casework, assessment, intervention, and referral services to patients and/or their families.
- Exercise initiative and independent judgement based upon professional knowledge, experience, and hospital policy.
- Collaborate with social work, psychiatrists, clinical affiliates, and unit support staff in a team approach.
- Serve as a liaison to other services along the continuum of care and community support services.
- Cross train with Mobile Crisis Outreach (MCO).
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
- Passing exam offered by ASWB and licensure as a LMSW through State of New York.
- Good understanding of behavioral health crisis intervention.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, medical teams, and community professionals.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Participates in orientation and continuing education to maintain knowledge and skills.
Work Environment
- Clinical setting with exposure classified as Class I.
- May work long and irregular hours in an emotionally stressful environment.
- Light physical demands.
Work contact groups include all services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, and various regulatory and professional agencies.
Supervision
Supervised by a Supervisor or Coordinator. May supervise students/interns.
Pay
Pay range: $32.97 - $43.50 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
