About the role
KEP Electric, a subsidiary of IES Residential, is seeking experienced Licensed HVAC Technicians for an upcoming project in Defiance, Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Install residential HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, ductwork, ventilation systems, and related equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, HVAC layouts, specifications, and construction documents.
- Install and test refrigerant lines, condensate drains, ventilation systems, and ductwork.
- Conduct equipment startup, system balancing, and performance testing to ensure proper operation.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and perform corrective work as needed.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow OSHA safety requirements and company safety policies at all times.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid HVAC License or certification as required by state or local jurisdiction.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of residential HVAC installation experience.
- Experience in single-family, multifamily, or production residential construction environments.
- Knowledge of HVAC installation practices, refrigerant handling procedures, and applicable building codes.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and productivity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- NATE Certification.
- Experience working in production homebuilding and multifamily construction environments.
- Experience leading crews or mentoring apprentices.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment
- Work performed primarily on active single-family and multifamily residential construction sites.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, and construction-related hazards.
- Regular use of ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and power tools.
- Daily travel to job sites throughout the service area.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, HVAC testing equipment, and refrigerant recovery equipment.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions while maintaining safety standards.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks while maintaining quality and productivity.
