We are seeking a detail-oriented, licensed Healthcare Insurance Broker to manage client accounts, drive open enrollment, and handle day-to-day insurance billing and compliance. This role includes overseeing finances for the Rome College Foundation, a 501(c)(3) administered by the Chamber, and producing scholarship reports for monthly meetings as needed.
About the role
Part-time (20 hours per week), hybrid schedule (on-site a couple of days per week, work from home 1 day per week at employer’s discretion after proper training).
Responsibilities
- Client Enrollment & Support
- Onboard new groups and individuals, processing all necessary paperwork accurately and submitting it to carriers.
- Assist potential and existing clients with navigating the NY State of Health Marketplace.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for health subscribers to troubleshoot and resolve daily coverage issues.
- Guide clients through annual open enrollment (October 7th to January 31st) for Medicare Advantage, Small Group, Individuals, and Dental plans.
- Lead and host the annual Open Enrollment meeting in November alongside regional insurance representatives.
- Billing, Accounts Receivable & Financial Tracking
- Generate and send quarterly invoices.
- Reconcile and pay monthly health insurance bills.
- Monitor direct payments and log all income into QuickBooks and internal databases.
- Conduct outreach on overdue accounts (A/R).
- Monitor and document insurance commissions.
- Prepare and execute physical bank deposits and maintain an accurate accounting journal.
- Compliance & Administration
- Maintain an active Health Broker license in NY State, completing the required 16 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
- Ensure continuing education standards are met to protect both personal and RACC Agency licensure.
- Strictly adhere to HIPAA and NY State insurance laws by filing all sensitive subscriber paperwork in physical locked cabinets.
- Keep the billing database updated with all plan changes to ensure seamless new-year billing cycles.
Requirements
- Active New York State Health Broker License (Required).
- Active certification with the NY State of Health Marketplace (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire).
- Proven experience selling health insurance, handling health insurance billing, open enrollment cycles, or insurance collections.
Skills
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and standard database management software.
- Exceptional organizational habits.
- Strong communication skills for A/R phone calls.
- Absolute discretion regarding confidential medical and financial data.
Pay
$22.00 – $25.00 per hour
