Licensed Group Therapist

Applewood Centers is a private, nonprofit agency providing mental health services, social services, and education to children, adolescents, and families in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Dedicated to addressing behavioral, emotional, and learning problems, we offer a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment.

About the role

The Group Therapeutic Services (GTS) Licensed Group Facilitator is a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team responsible for the development, implementation, and management of curriculum and treatment for youth referred to the program.

Responsibilities

• Supervise client activities and ensure the safety and whereabouts of clients.
• Administer, lead, and plan therapeutic groups for youth based on individual treatment needs and curriculum.
• Complete assessments and intakes for incoming clients.
• Provide case management and Therapeutic Behavior Services (TBS) as needed.
• Implement clinical planning for youth as designed by the treatment team and individualized treatment plan (ITP), documenting deviations or changes.
• Develop, plan, and write curricula for therapeutic groups, ensuring supervisor approval prior to sessions.
• Assist in crisis intervention, problem resolution, and process discussions with clients.
• Complete daily and progress notes for therapeutic service hours delivered.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical records in compliance with licensing and accreditation regulations.
• Transport clients to and from the GTS program in an agency-provided vehicle, if needed.
• Respect client privacy and maintain confidentiality of all treatment information.
• Maintain professionalism, courtesy, respect, and ethical standards in interactions with clients and families.
• Secure supervisory signatures per licensing guidelines and agency policy.
• Attend team meetings and consultations, actively participating as a supportive team member.
• Incorporate supervisory feedback into clinical practice and apply professional training to update practices.
• Provide after-hours on-call response if assigned, in accordance with agency policy.
• Collaborate with agency staff and administration on program changes and performance improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology, or enrollment in such a program. Bachelor’s degree with a valid Ohio LSW is acceptable.
• Valid Ohio LSW, LPC, or MFT license required.
• Bachelor’s-level licensed mental health treatment experience with children and families, or experience through a master’s degree internship program.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the agency’s insurance underwriting criteria; must be approved to transport clients in own vehicle.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $52,000–$58,000, depending on licensure and experience.
