Responsibilities
- Accurately classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
- Prepare and submit customs entries using ACE/ABI systems
- Ensure all import documentation aligns with federal laws and internal policies
- Communicate with CBP, Partner Government Agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA), and clients
- Proactively resolve shipment holds, exams, and related issues
- Stay current with U.S. import regulations and CBP updates
- Oversee documentation accuracy, including commercial invoices, ISFs, and entry summaries
- Advise internal teams and clients on customs-related matters
- Coincide cargo release and delivery with logistics partners
- Aid with compliance audits and operational improvements
- Train and mentor junior customs staff
Qualifications
- An active U.S. Customs Broker License (Required)
- 3–5 years of experience in customs brokerage, import compliance, or freight forwarding
- A strong understanding of import regulations, HTS, and PGA requirements
- Proficiency in ACE, ABI, and customs entry systems
- Experience with logistics/transportation software is a plus
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Meticulous attention to detail and compliance
