Responsibilities

  • Accurately classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
  • Prepare and submit customs entries using ACE/ABI systems
  • Ensure all import documentation aligns with federal laws and internal policies
  • Communicate with CBP, Partner Government Agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA), and clients
  • Proactively resolve shipment holds, exams, and related issues
  • Stay current with U.S. import regulations and CBP updates
  • Oversee documentation accuracy, including commercial invoices, ISFs, and entry summaries
  • Advise internal teams and clients on customs-related matters
  • Coincide cargo release and delivery with logistics partners
  • Aid with compliance audits and operational improvements
  • Train and mentor junior customs staff

Qualifications

  • An active U.S. Customs Broker License (Required)
  • 3–5 years of experience in customs brokerage, import compliance, or freight forwarding
  • A strong understanding of import regulations, HTS, and PGA requirements
  • Proficiency in ACE, ABI, and customs entry systems
  • Experience with logistics/transportation software is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and compliance
