About the role
VHC Health is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Therapist to join our team supporting Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatric and Addiction Services.
Responsibilities
- Lead group counseling sessions
- Conduct intake assessments
- Create individualized treatment plans
- Work with adult and adolescent populations managing mental health and substance use challenges
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of evidence-based practices
- Collaborate with therapists and social workers across inpatient psychiatric, detoxification, and rehabilitation units
- Develop a diverse skill set while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or an approved related field
- Two years of behavioral health experience
- Licensed Clinical Therapist certification from the Virginia Department of Health Professions
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of providing care to emotionally disturbed, socially dysfunctional, behaviorally disordered, mentally ill, and substance use disorder patients
- Knowledge of ASAM standards and regulations
- Knowledge of community resources and human services networks
- Knowledge of counseling and crisis intervention techniques
- Knowledge of intake techniques and procedures
- Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Knowledge of OHR rules and regulations in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Skills
- Knowledge of clinical counseling principles, methods, and procedures
- Skill in assessing and analyzing emotional conditions
- Ability to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders within legal and regulatory guidelines
- Ability to provide training supervision for students and registered counselor trainees
