Licensed Clinical Social Worker - (LCSW) - Okinawa, Japan - DHA Contract

About the role

Valor Healthcare is a veteran‑ and physician‑led provider delivering high‑quality care to military members, veterans, and government employees. The position is located on‑site in Okinawa, Japan, with a relocation option available. This full‑time Clinical Social Worker role supports patients at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), a joint Combat Support Agency that ensures medical readiness across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other government agencies for services.
• Independently assess psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and family members, formulate and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and provide treatment to individuals from diverse socio‑economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Utilize medical and mental‑health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic, and traumatic conditions, common medications, and medical terminology.
• Implement treatment modalities with individuals, families, and groups experiencing psychiatric, medical, and social problems to achieve treatment goals.
• Provide counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, couples, and families within the scope of licensure and MTF privileges.
• Offer consultation to staff regarding patients’ psychosocial needs and the impact on health‑care compliance.
• Participate in professional peer‑review case conferences, research studies, or other required MTF organizations.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in any U.S. state or territory.
• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
• Clinical social work experience obtained through a master’s‑level practicum or at least two years post‑MSW experience within the past three years, in a clinical/treatment setting.
• U.S. citizenship.
