About the role

This position functions within an operational unit as a Behavioral Health Care Provider at Hurlburt Field, FL.

Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours, including quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, commander’s staff meetings, and other required gatherings.
• Conduct applied research and clinical investigations in clinical, behavioral health, and organizational social work.
• Apply social work procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, and evidence-based therapies for evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological disorders using:
  • Individual, family, and group psychotherapy
  • Couples therapy
  • Alcohol and drug treatment evaluations
• Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders, and school districts as required.
• Maintain accurate and current notes in paper and electronic medical records for all patients, producing evaluation and treatment reports as needed.
• Participate in military-specific training and activities, such as:
  • Security clearances
  • Use of DoD or service-specific clinical practice guidelines
  • Pre- and post-deployment screening
  • PTSD and combat stress training
• Provide clinical supervision of unlicensed providers or trainees, if required.
• Perform additional duties, including but not limited to:
  • Completing required DoD or service training
  • Contacting referred patients to assess treatment adherence
  • Using validated symptom inventories to assess symptom severity
  • Assessing and problem-solving barriers to treatment adherence
  • Educating patients about their mental health condition and treatment regimen
  • Maintaining patient information in a registry
  • Staffing difficult cases with referring providers, behavioral health consultants, or psychiatry consultants
  • Performing case management functions

Requirements

• Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) or equivalent (MSSW, MSSA) degree from a CSWE-accredited graduate school.
• Current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice social work in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Credentialing in good standing at a local Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
• Minimum of two (2) years of fully licensed, independent clinical social work experience in a mental health setting within the past five (5) years.
• Experience in a government setting, such as DoD or VA MTF, is preferred.
• Working knowledge of professional standards and ethics in clinical social work.
• Experience in brief behavioral interventions.
• Ability to receive and maintain clinical practice privileges, if required.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Active Secret Clearance.
