About the role

The Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist position calls for a licensed professional clinician with direct experience and skill in treating a range of behavioral health issues. The role requires assessing and treating co-occurring disorders including mental illness, personality disorders, and challenges in primary or secondary support systems. Responsibilities include active engagement and coordination of care with internal resources (psychiatry, community support) and external bodies (legal system, families, social support agencies). The position may also involve back-up support to the program director or other therapists and requires active, positive participation as a member of the clinical team. Based on setting, special skills and/or work with specific populations may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Run individual, family, and group outpatient therapy sessions
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and make service recommendations
  • Perform consumer screening and orientation
  • Conduct inpatient group therapy sessions
  • Orient new service users to RHA
  • Develop person-centered plans for service users
  • Oversee the discharge planning process
  • Facilitate relationships between RHA, service user families/legal guardians, and various social service community resources (e.g., food stamp and housing assistance, healthcare, job training and placement, substance abuse support groups)
  • Coordinate closely with the interdisciplinary team, including behavioral health specialists, registered nurses, quality assurance specialists, paraprofessionals, and the Clinical Director

Requirements

  • Must meet the requirements of a LCSW or LCMHC
  • Licensed as a Behavioral Health Therapist (holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession)
  • Must meet education, experience, licensure/certification requirements specified by the service definition of the service being provided
  • Excellent communication and listening skills with strong therapeutic abilities
  • Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in behavioral interviewing techniques to uncover and anticipate service user needs

Qualifications

  • Direct experience treating behavioral health issues, including co-occurring disorders
  • Experience coordinating care with internal and external resources
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Pre-employment screening

  • Complete criminal background check
  • Name checked in the OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
  • Drug testing
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required)
  • For positions requiring driving: Proof of driver’s license, driver’s insurance, and vehicle
