Job Responsibilities
- Counsel PLWH with emphasis on prevention and/or behavior medication.
- Work with PLWH individuals and/or groups to promote optimum mental health and manage issues with family, parenting and marriage problems, suicide, stress management, problems with self-esteem, and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health.
- Serve as a team leader.
- Evaluate clients’ physical or mental condition based on review of client information and the DHE EMA tool.
- Provide mental health services, including counseling, to PLHW individuals (or groups) within licensing scope.
- Act as client advocate in order to coordinate required services.
- Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and tests.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
- Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress according to measurable goals established in treatment and care plan.
- Prepare and maintain all required client records related to any visit (either virtual or in person) as per HIPAA regulations.
- May serve as Team Lead for professional staff and/or support level staff within the Social Services team if team lead, will assure team compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Create and maintain positive working relationships within the community and within the social service team.
- Lead and maintain a comprehensive system of public assistance and social services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience; or Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of job related experience or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Behavioral Health Counselor 2, Licensed (HCP221).
- This position requires any of the following: License in Professional Counseling (LPC), or a License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), and/or a License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW).
- Experience working with PLWH clients preferred.
Qualifications
- Experience providing mental health counseling to individuals and/or groups within your licensed scope of practice.
- Experience developing and implementing treatment plans for clients.
- Experience documenting client care in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Experience conducting client assessments (e.g., interviews, observations, or standardized tools).
- Experience monitoring and evaluating client progress based on measurable goals.
- Experience working with diverse or vulnerable populations (e.g., HIV/STD, behavioral health, underserved communities).
- Experience addressing mental health concerns such as crisis intervention, stress management, or self-esteem issues.
- Experience leading or mentoring staff, or serving as a team lead in a clinical or social services setting.
- Experience maintaining electronic client records and completing required documentation accurately and timely.
- Experience working specifically with PLWH (Persons Living with HIV).
- A current license in (LCSW, LPC, LMHC) to independently practice in the State of Georgia.
